A decoy uses bamboo dog training stick just a little at the beginning. His movements are not to be abrupt. The decoy makes use of the stick in more threatening manner in time when a dog becomes stronger. He makes noise with the stick. The main purpose is to train the dog not to be afraid of intense influence. If the dog winks or shudders when the stick moves, tries to escape it or growls, this means the decoy hurried. Ideally it should seem that the dog doesn't notice the stick at all.
If the dog responds anxiously on sudden motions, the decoy never touches it with the stick until the animal is got used to the tool. The decoy has to touch the dog with the stick when it got over to it.
All the initial work with the stick is done on a leash. While the chase the stick is not used until the decoy is absolutely sure that the dog is not afraid of the stick and the chasing.
